Cheuk Wing Wilson

Dr. Wilson Chan, PhD, FHEA, is a lecturer at the School of Biomedical Engineering with a background in developmental biology. He earned his PhD from the University of Hong Kong, specializing in skeletal tissue development and diseases. His expertise encompasses genetic-engineered animal models, skeletal disease mechanisms, stem cell applications, and bioengineering approaches in regenerative medicine. In recent years, Dr. Chan has shifted his focus from research to education, dedicating himself to teaching and curriculum development in life science programmes.

 

Dedicated to education, Dr. Chan teaches stem cell technologies, biochemistry, cell biology, and tissue engineering to diverse student cohorts, including BEng (BME), BSc, BBMS, and MBBS. He is passionate about designing engaging, tailored curricula that inspire and motivate students through goal-oriented teaching. He encourages students to actively participate in the learning process by applying their knowledge to contribute meaningfully to discussions and problem-solving, fostering a collaborative and inquiry-driven classroom environment.

Over the past decade, he has collaborated closely with patients suffering from skeletal disorders, leading community programs to enhance societal understanding of these conditions. His community engagement efforts have earned him the LKS Faculty of Medicine Knowledge Exchange Award.

 

Committed to fostering compassionate, patient-centered, and values-driven learning, Dr. Chan integrates these principles into his teaching through innovative pedagogical approaches. This dedication was recognized with the HKU Common Core Tutor Innovation Teaching Award in 2026. His overarching goal is to nurture not only knowledgeable but also empathetic, innovative and actively engaged biomedical leaders.
