Talk title
Engineered T cell therapy for central nervous system injury and its underlying mechanis
Date: September 25, 2025
Time: 4pm – 5pm
Venue: SR3, Lab Block, 21 Sassoon Road
Background
Immunoengineering has significantly advanced cancer immunotherapy, including CAR-T, and its future prospects are limitless. The current trend of CAR-T application is autoimmune diseases and other CAR effectors in tissue repairing and senolytic. Wenqing Gao opened the new venue of immunoengineering during her training with Jonathan Kipnis. By profiling T-cells in the central nervous system injury, she identified the neuroprotective CD4+ T-cells. mRNA delivery of specific TCR generated such neuroprotective CD4+ T-cells, resulting in CNS injury recovery. This new T-cell therapy for CNS injury is published in Nature, 2024 (Gao et al.).
